Reptil is a contemporary interpretation of the Turtle typeface, designed by Bob Newman, a British designer best known for his Data Seventy typefaces and the iconic Frankfurter. Turtle was published in 1971 by Letraset and distributed during the photocomposition era. It was subsequently forgotten before being digitised in the 2000s.
Like Turtle, Reptil is built on a circular foundation. Reptil combines vintage style with a contemporary edge, exploring the limits of legibility while staying as clear as possible. Its compact capitals create strong, structured blocks, while the distinctive lowercase forms attract and hold the eye.
